Brain
test.
Reflexes, focus, number sense and quick math. Every answer is timed. You score on being right and being fast, measured against typical adult times.
×4
Reflex
Tap the moment the pad turns green. Not before.
×3
Direction
Tap the way the middle arrow points. Ignore the others.
×4
Focus
Tap the ink color, not the word you read.
×3
Number sense
Two numbers. Tap the bigger one.
×6
Math
Mental arithmetic, easy to hard. Pick the answer.
How it's scored
Each question is worth up to 50 points, for 1,000 in total. A wrong answer, or tapping early, scores zero. A right answer scores at least 10, and the rest comes from speed, on a curve between an elite time and a slow one. Answer at the typical adult time with a typical hit rate and you land around 640.
The benchmarks
- Reflex: ~270 ms typical. Human Benchmark's median is about 250 ms by mouse; touch screens add a little.
- Direction: ~450 ms. Two-choice reactions run 350–450 ms, and conflicting arrows (the flanker effect) add more.
- Focus: ~950 ms. Naming the ink of a conflicting word (the Stroop effect) is slow for everyone.
- Math: 1.6–3.8 s, depending on the problem. Simple sums take adults about a second before they tap.
